Rev. Dr Jim Toole

Pastor Jim is a practical theologian with a passion for preaching and making the Gospel relevant to today’s needs. He has a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ and is grounded in listening prayer and has a passion for the renewal of people, leaders, and organizations that find themselves in transition. Jim is a prayerful visionary with an intuitive, sensitive, collegial leadership style infused with humor and warmth. Jim says: “I believe we serve the church with uncommon generosity, and we impact the world by demonstrating the Kingdom of God and inviting others to join it.”
Jim began his ministry at St. Andrew’s in July 2009. He previously served as Associate Pastor of Family and Discipleship, and Pastor of Congregational Engagement and Outreach at San Clemente Presbyterian Church. He earned his undergraduate degree from Biola University in Cultural Anthropology and his Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. In 2010 he completed his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller with his doctoral thesis, “Discovering Missional Practices in the Local Church.”
Jim and his wife, Rev. Pati Toole, have two sons, Jake and Conor. The Toole family bonds around nature activities. They enjoy traveling, hiking, swimming, and visiting zoos and nature centers.
