Memorial Services at St. Andrew's

Followers of Christ recognize with all people the inevitability of death, but we affirm that "neither death, nor life....nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39).

When a death occurs involving our members, their family members, or friends of our congregation, we extend a hand of compassion and care. Memorial or Funeral Services are scheduled on either of our two campuses, depending on availability of facilities and of the pastor agreeing to lead the service. Our Memorial Coordinator who assists the pastors with coordination of the event is Myra Christensen.

The worship service is planned and conducted by a pastor, in consultation with the family.  The purpose of the service is to provide comfort and strength to mourners, to give thanks to God for the life of the deceased, and above all, to bear witness to our hope of our resurrection in Christ. The service format includes Scripture, selected music or hymns, a brief message of hope, and a time of remembrance.  Our Deacons serve as greeters, welcoming guests and offering assistance as needed.

Many families chose to prepare DVD's of photographs to be shown before or during the service, or immediately following at the reception.  A memory table creates a personal touch and invites conversation and memories for the guests.

Financial Considerations

Honorariums for the pastor and musicians are customary.  There is also a nominal fee for Audio/Visual Support which varies according to the campus where the service will be held. A guest book may be purchased through the deacons.  Flower arrangements are provided by the family.

To discuss service plans in advance, or at the time of death, please contact either Pastor Carla Williams, or Reverend John Conn in the church office ~ 297-7201.
