Parish Nursing / Health Ministries

The Parish Nursing and Health Ministries of St. Andrew's seeks to integrate health and faith to strengthen the church community.

Volunteers faithfully resource and partner with Caring Ministries in serving our congregation.. The ministry focuses on several distinct health areas:  Health Education, Personal Health Counseling (including post hospital and newborn phone visits), Liaison to specific community agencies, and Interpretation of the Relationships between Faith and Health.  Parish Nurses also participate in the St. Andrew's Crisis Care Network.

Thanks to the attention of our Parish Nurses:

(1)  St. Andrew's has two Automated External Debribulators (one one each campus), and individuals besides themselves have been trained to operate them if needed..

(2) Blood Pressure screenings are scheduled the second Sunday of every month throughout the year.

(3)  First Aid Boxes at six locations throughout the campus are checked regularly and re-filled as necessary.

The Parish Nursing Ministry of St. Andrew's is a member of the Tucson Faith Community Nurse Network.

PW Circles : reaching out to Burmese Moms

Deborah Circle prepared a Mother’s Day basket for a Burmese refugee mom who is expecting. A circle member is now accompanying her to her OB appointments and the circle plans to have a baby shower for her. Through the sharing of pictures of families and other things, we have realized that even though we are different nationalities and languages, we all have the same concerns in life, and we are all God’s children.

Women from three churches joined together to host a Mother’s Day Picnic for about 40 refugee moms and children… each mom was given a basket that morning.
