Announcements & Opportunities for July 27

Next Sunday’s Sermon

Christian worship has been described as beginning with recollection and ending with expectations; beginning with a look backward and ending with a look forward. This is certainly true with the Lord’s Supper. Read Luke 22:14-23 and join us as Gus preaches on “This Do in Remembrance of Me.”

Wedding Celebration August 10

You are invited to celebrate Pastor Jennifer and Michael Cummins’ wedding on August 10. We will begin with a time of worship in the Chapel at 5 p.m. where we will ask God’s blessing on our children and students, celebrate our church family, offer prayers of promise over single adults, and renew wedding vows for all who are married. All this will be followed by a wedding celebration and reception in Friendship Hall hosted by the Wilcox and Cummins families. This is a celebration for the whole church!  Please RSVP your attendance to Pastor Jennifer at 382-2113 or jwilcox@standrewspres.com by August 6. To help decorate for this special celebration, you are invited to lend us your framed wedding photo. Please drop it off to Laura in the church office by Thursday, August 7. Your picture can be retrieved after the reception on Sunday, August 10 or in the church office the following week.

Will you be hospitalized?

St. Andrew’s Caring Ministry wants to remind you that hospitals do not notify churches that their members are in their hospital. If you or another member that you know are going into the hospital and would like a visit or prayer, please notify the church office.

Family of God
On-Going

NE Campus, Garden Room

Led by Steve & Jan Olafson

We are currently studying Phillip Yancey’s Prayer – Does it Make a Difference?  Yancey explores this enigmatic intersection where we meet God and addresses key questions that everyone has at some point in their faith walk. Books ($15) can be obtained through the Olafsons at jolafson@standrewspres.com or 544-4162. We hope you will join us and bring your perspectives and questions!

Coming in August

Women in the Marketplace (Women Only),

(Formerly Taking Faith to Work)

(Resumes August 24) in Room J

God created humans to make God’s world work and to care for His world. How do professional women working outside of the home fulfill this creation mandate? Come and explore with other women the challenges of

being faithful witnesses in their work.

Men and the Church (Men Only)

August 24-October 12) in Alpha

Have you, as a man, found the church disconnected from “real life”? Ever wondered how, as a man, you can meaningfully participate in the church? Then come join us to explore the provocative book by David

Murrow, Why Men Hate Going to Church as we tackle questions about men, women and how to revitalize men’s spiritual lives and so bless all of God’s people.

Childcare is available in the nursery for infants and toddlers while you are attending one of these adult classes during Connections.

Youth Sunday School, for students in grades 6–12, is offered in Boondocks on the NE Campus during Connections.

Opportunities for Connecting in Service

Back Packs Still Needed!

Please continue to help us supply House of Neighborly Service and Giving Tree students with back packs. There are good sales on them now! There will be a box in Gospel Hall to collect your donations. Thank you

for your support of this project. Questions? Call Susan Lane at 297-4885.

Supplies for the Homeless

This summer we are collecting water, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses for the homeless. Items can be dropped off at the west entrance or in the Gospel Hall Information Office on the SW Campus or in the Chapel narthex on the NE Campus. We will continue every Sunday throughout the summer. Last year St. Andrew’s was responsible for obtaining over 11,000 bottles of water. If you have questions or suggestions contact Tim Henson at TimHenson@milgard.com.

Interfaith Community Services

Food Bank: We have an URGENT need for tuna, jelly, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, canned spaghetti, rice, dry beans, fruit, cereal, canned chili, pasta, pasta meals, and canned meat.

ICS Mobile Meals Drivers Needed: Mileage reimbursement just went up to .58 cents per mile, so don’t hesitate to deliver Mobile Meals to those who can no longer prepare their own meals.

Make a Friend:  Be a Friendly Visitor with a senior or disabled person. You’ll brighten someone’s life and you’ll enrich your own life by visiting with a recipient. Arrange visits on your schedule.

Handy Helpers Needed: Groups or individuals interested in sharing their skills with household repair and yard work needed. A lot of times, homebound seniors are no longer able to do necessary repairs around the house or maintain their yard. Volunteers providing this service can choose when and where they work.

Visit www.icstucson.org for more information or call 297-6049 between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
