The Power of PrayerIn recent weeks many people have received blessings during Holy Week services, the 40-Hour Prayer Vigil, and during the performances of Elijah by our Chancel Choir, Orchestra, and the Catalinas Community Choir. Other praises and answers to prayer follow: Physical Healings: An abdominal mass was scar tissue, not cancer; Healing from an assault and a return home; Successful eye and shoulder surgery; An 84-year-old neighbor received healing from double by-pass heart surgery and is now home; All cancer was removed in successful surgery; An arm and leg were saved after a severe motorcycle accident. Other Praises: A successful church-work day. Praise for many helping hands. For opened eyes to see all God’s blessings; Praise for a heart-touching prayer retreat at the Triangle Y Ranch and for unity in prayer. Several members of St. Andrew’s spent 24 hours in prayer and fellowship at the Triangle Y Ranch in Oracle recently. This proved to be a “life-changing” experience for all of them as they spent time praying in groups and having time alone with Jesus in Scripture and silence in a wonderful “mountain-top” facility. Thank you, Jesus! Prayer Opportunities for 2008 We encourage you to experience the power of praying in small groups, for physical and other kinds of healing, for our congregation, for children, and for our Pastors and the Session as they lead us during this transition time. Call the church office (297-7201) to find out about small groups that meet in the morning during the week. Please consider joining either the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, or the 7:30 a.m. Friday group to experience the power of the Holy Spirit as we pray for the Pastoral Nominating Committee and a new senior pastor for St. Andrew’s, and for patience and unity for the congregation. If you would like to experience time away with Jesus, watch for future plans for another retreat. Contact Joanne Shortt (888-1127) or Carol Willhoit (579-9919). We appreciate hearing from those who have received answers to prayer. Remember to fill out the “prayer request and answered prayer” cards on Sunday at worship. We look forward to hearing how God is blessing your life, and be sure to come forward after worship to pray with our Prayer Team. Return to home page |
