Alpha is a wonderful programIt’s a cross denominational program with it’s purpose to bring people closer to God, through a greater understanding and appreciation of Jesus Christ and the Bible. It gives answers to a lot of difficult questions that sometimes keep people from developing a true faith in God. Alpha is for everyone! If you put faith on a scale of 0-10, there is something in Alpha for those on both ends of the scale. Alpha was started by a former atheist who found God and has now devoted his life to helping others strengthen their understanding of Christianity as well as introduce the basics of Christianity to non-believers. The next Alpha program starts September 8, 2005, right here at St. Andrews. Each evening will start at 6:15 with 15 minutes of social time . then at 6:30 sharp we will sit down to a free---yes—that is free, dinner. At 7:00 we will have some general announcements and then a video presentation by Nicki Gumble, the founder of Alpha. You will definitely find his presentation to be very informative, informal, humorous and entertaining. After the video we break out to small groups for discussion. There will be loads of opportunity for debate and discussion. We dismiss promptly at 8:30. The style of Alpha is informal, friendly, and non-pressured. Some people are spiritually restless, some are baby Christians looking for maturity, some are not even born yet, some are mature Christians always looking to learn more… So we are really talking about two groups here – you, who are in church and obviously people of faith. There is value for you in Alpha, just ask your St. Andrews friends who attended the first Alpha course. And there are others who don’t know God or Jesus Christ but have a yearning in their heart for something, but they are not sure what. These people will not come to Alpha on their own,--they feel inadequate, scared to come into an atmosphere where “everyone knows more than me”---- but they will come if you ask them and bring them with you. Alpha is a great, easy, evangelism tool. Please consider coming to Alpha, and please do also consider bringing someone who is searching for answers. They just might find some life changing answers—you might too. Information will be available in the courtyard or in the church office Return to home page |
