Connections... for learning, sharing, livingView the Adult Education Classes Weekly adult education, 9:40–10:40 a.m. One of the great challenges to Christians today is the phenomena of “religious pluralism.” This phrase is used to describe two basic ideas. First, to assert that people increasingly hold radically different beliefs and views about basic aspects of “reality” (i.e., God, human nature, morality, origins of life, human purpose, and ultimate destiny). Two, to assert that no one religion and/or view of spirituality can rightly claim to “have the Truth”—rather their perceptions of reality only encompass a portion of the whole picture of reality. The main lesson drawn from this is that it is an arrogant presumption to assert or seek to persuade others to adopt one’s view of “Truth.” For Christians the fact that there is a plurality of perspectives is a challenge and an opportunity for us to clarify what we believe and to utilize our freedom to share our faith with others. I hope you will make it a priority to join us for one of these classes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the truth of God in Jesus Christ, and to prepare yourself to share that truth with those who are seeking it. Return to home page |
