Our Church GovernmentPresbyterians elect their church officers from the Congregation and then assign them the quest of diligently seeking to discern the will of God for the churchs actions. Ordained clergy and elders share leadership in all the levels of the church. The Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is the working document of our structure and operation. The Session - The Session is the body that is entrusted with decision making for the local congregation. At St. Andrews Presbyterian Church the Session consists of 21 men and women who have been ordained as elders, and four clergy. All other boards, committees, mission, and ministry areas of the church function under the Sessions consent and leadership. The Board of Deacons - The Board of Deacons consists of 21 men and women who take leadership in ministering to the membership of the church through fellowship, care, and concern. Like the elders, deacons are ordained for their tasks. The Board of Trustees - The Board of Trustees, at the direction of the Session and acting for the congregations interests, is responsible for the administration of the funds and the properties of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, including maintenance of the facilities. Nine persons serve on this board. Session members, deacons, and trustees are all elected for three-year terms. Service on all three boards represents a call from God to service and growth which has been affirmed by the congregation. It is both a privilege and a responsibility. Return to home page
