Teens on a Mission

Kendra Johnson, Youth Deacon

Every month during the school year, middle school and high school students take on a new mission project. Here’s a look at some of the projects we’ll be working on this year!

Youth Deacon Rachel Richardson heads up a team to lead worship every other Saturday at Bethany House, a center for homeless women and their children.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the 7th Annual  30-Hour Famine, February 4–5. We fast for 30 hours to raise awareness and money for local and global hunger missions. Throughout the weekend, we do various local mission projects, like serving breakfast to the men in the One Step Beyond ministry. Other activates include Bible study sessions, and praying every hour for children around the world. Sunday, February 5 is Souper Bowl Sunday. You’ll see us after worship with our soup pots, collecting money for World Vision, an organization that will distribute the funds for global mission needs.

Our high school students are also gearing up for a summer mission trip to the Yucatan peninsula in southeastern Mexico. We will spend 10 days working on various mission projects, along with our peers from Northminster Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

At 10:15, during the youth Sunday School program, students can choose to join a class all about missions! We want to thank all the volunteers who came to speak to our class this past semester. They were such a blessing to us as we learned about mission activities in our congregation and community.

As you can see, our youth are very mission-minded. Thank you for all your prayers and support of our ministry.
