What if God was one of us?The scandal of Christmas scan·dal (skan dl) noun A publicized incident that brings about disgrace or offends the moral sensibilities of society. Our media shows us daily that “scandal” sells. When a reputable person crosses the line, it is scandalous. When governments, corporations, or famous people break the laws, we are offended that they have done something so outrageous. Two thousand years ago, our Savior King was born in a manger. Wasn’t that a scandalous event? Consider what the tabloid headlines would have been: “Prophets’ Predictions Actually Become Reality!” “Un-wed Teen Pregnant With the Messiah?!” “Common Laborers First to Greet the Son of God!” “Mysterious Moving Star, Foreign Dignitaries, and Dark Alley Mark the Event!” “God Almighty Comes To Earth As a Baby?!” The Worship Thing will go beyond these “headlines” each week, November 26–December 24. Investigate this scandal with us. We meet Sundays at 7 p.m. and Christmas Eve at 10:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Return to home page |
