It’s every parent’s nightmare…. You bring little Johnny to the nursery. Cheerfully, you give him a hug and say, "Mommy and Daddy will be right back to get you after church." You place him in the arms of a loving caregiver. You step towards the door to exit. Then, in an instant, disaster strikes. Johnny bursts into tears and reaches for you in desperation. He doesn’t want to stay. The caregiver reassures you he will be fine in a minute. She might be right, but you’re torn. What if he doesn’t stop crying? What if his tear ducts are injured beyond repair? What if he grows to be an insecure adult because you abandoned him in his time of need? What if…… If only you could go to worship without worrying!
On the NE campus we have the “Parent’s Call” paging system available in the room 12 nursery for weekday activities. On the SW campus, in room L, we have the “JTECH” Nursery Paging System, which has a stronger signal for the Sanctuary building. Simply check out a pager when you drop off your child and note the pager number on the sign-in sheet. If you are needed in the nursery, the caregiver will call your pager and you will feel it vibrate. Pagers may also be used for young toddlers in the Sunday school classes, by checking it out in the nursery and letting the teacher know you have one. The teacher will know to ask the nursery staff to page you if your little one remains distressed. What a relief!
