Thank
Offering
The
Thank offering began when Mrs. Eliza Clokey of Springfield, Ohio, urged each
woman to give $1 over and above her usual contribution to the Woman’s general
Missionary Society of the United Presbyterian Church of North America as a
“thank offering to he Lord”
Since
1888 Presbyterian women have funded countless projects and medical/health
missions. In 2001, 76 projects were selected to receive grants totaling
$1,001,535 (40% used for health ministries throughout the world).

Birthday
Offering
In
1922, the women’s Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Church in the USA chose to
celebrate its 10th anniversary by collecting and dedicating a
special offering. Hattie Winsborough,
an early Superintendent of Women’s Work in PCUSA had visited a girls’ school
in Japan and after seeing their needs, challenged every member to contribute
one cent for each year of their age as a “Birthday gift”.
For
over 80 years Presbyterian Women have collected the Birthday Offering in the
spring that is shared by 5 projects which are selected annually by the
Creative Ministries Offering Committee. Hundreds of applications are received
each year to seek funds to meet the needs of hurting people, mostly women and
children.

Ronald
McDonald House
Pop those tabs on your soda cans and
help support the Ronald McDonald House, a free home where families of
hospitalized, terminally ill children can stay while visiting their child.
Here they can cook, do laundry, relax, share concerns and support each other.
It takes many tabs to even make a pound, but the community gathers enough to
receive over $25,000 to support the house. Accumulate those tabs and turn
them into the Ronald McDonald container in Alpha.
