Saturday night, 7/9, the 16 mission team members on the trip organized by St. Andrew's returned on a flight from Quito Ecuador. The pictures give some idea of what they experienced during their two weeks working at the HCJB Hospital Vozandes Oriente in Shell Ecuador (link to HCJB site). The group was comprised of the following members (place pointer over picture).
The group was excited because it clearly saw how the work of the Lord is being done through the work of the missionary couple our church helps support, Dr. Jerry Koleski and his nurse wife Elizabeth. We saw how all the Christian workers who perform various jobs team to keep this hospital at the edge of the Amazon rain forest in business helping sick and injured indians of the region. These missionaries heal body and actively bring the word of God to their patients and their families.

Our team worked hard at projects that help keep the hospital compound facility working well so the staff can perform all the many functions that are necessary to the functioning of the missionaries and their families. Pouring concrete, removing windows, tearing out block walls for new windows, laying block walls, painting in the hospital , painting an entire two-story house, creating and painting animals and jungle scenes on schoolhouse walls and performing home repairs were the jobs our teams performed. We also got to travel around some of the beautiful parts of this mountainous country and visit the headquaters of the very influential, very effective Christian worldwide broadcasting company HCJB which also developed the hospital in Shell.
