Gospel Rescue Mission Panel: Guests of Family Life and Mission Ministries

By Bob Shanks, St. Andrew's Missions Committee

Following the worship service of June 13 the Gospel Rescue Mission (GRM) students and graduates testified how Christ is working in their lives. This testimony related directly to Dr. Joe Bettridge's sermon. His sermon text and message (Luke 12:6,7) today reminded us that to think like Christians means seeing every individual human being as infinitely valuable to God.

The men from Gospel Rescue Mission testified about how they have felt God's love for each of them even when their lives were in bad shape, and were in deep despair. People going through the GRM recovery program and all those who complete the training are called graduates. Their testimony told of terrible addictions and lost self-respect, ruined careers and in some cases time in prison. Through their involvement with the GRM they have found Jesus Christ and new lives. They expressed their gratitude for the support of St. Andrew's to the GRM. They also asked that volunteers for kids clubs were needed and perhaps some at St. Andrew's might be interested. They noted that through relationships and work developed at GRM with the lost and the desperate, one truly experiences Jesus' presence and His peace.

A DVD is available from the GRM highlighting their programs for shelter for the homeless, shelter for abused moms and kids, and recovery programs for the lost. Tom Berresford is the St. Andrew's Missions team liaison to this Christian organization and has the DVD and can put volunteers in touch with the Gospel Rescue Mission. Keep this organization and its outreach to the lost in your prayers.
