Youth on Their Own (YOTO)1443 W.
Prince Road Youth On Their Own is a unique local treasure devoted to assisting metro-Tucson homeless youth in receiving their high school diploma. Established during the 1986/87 academic year, the 501 (c) (3) organization has supported over 8,600 youth who, through no fault of their own, lacked a safe, stable home or parental support. Student-clients are provided financial assistance, food, clothing, life skills, medical assistance and referral and advocacy services. Program enrollment is initiated by a school official, and youth commit to receiving passing grades, regular school attendance and good citizenship. Entering a third decade, YOTO has evolved into a major social service agency with multiple programs, yet still maintains its grassroots attitude of service. The agency, true to its mission, continues to meet the increasing demand for services through strategic decision-making, innovative community collaboration and sound fiscal practices and management.
