Legendary Pianos Come to St. Andrew’s

Two remarkable and historic Steinway pianos are traveling the country and are now at St. Andrew's for the services on March 12th. The concert grand pianos were created by the Steinway company for two of the most celebrated pianists of the 20th Century, Vladimir Horowitz and Van Cliburn. The Horowitz piano traveled with the artist from London to Tokyo, also accompanying him on his historic 1986 tour of Russia. Van Cliburn–an American pianist who achieved fame in 1958 by winning the first-ever Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow–was a personal friend of St. Andrew’s first pastor, Rev. Newton White. Cliburn played piano for St. Andrew’s very first worship service in Rev. White’s home, and on several other occasions.

The pianos were available to play on Saturday March 11th for a donation of $10, which went to benefit the Painted Sky Elementary School’s Drama Club.

We experienced the beauty of the pianos on Sunday, March 12, during both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services.
