Matt Gulley
by Phil Richardson, Communications Committee At exactly the right time, Matt Gulley was led to St. Andrew’s when we dearly needed someone to be the supervisor of our buildings and grounds, and also acted as the church’s liaison during construction of the sanctuary. Matt fit the job description as perfectly as if he had planned his prior training and work experience. Matt is a native Tucsonan, the third of four children born to Dallas and Carol Gulley, faithful servants of God and St. Andrew’s. Matt’s siblings include Amy, Dallas, and Phillip. Matt has always called the northwest side of town home, attending Harelson Elementary school and graduating from Canyon Del Oro High School. He was able to hone a broad spectrum of trade skills while working in the construction services division of JC Penny, and traveled throughout the United States as the position demanded. Then Matt became proficient in computer technology, at what was then the headquarters of Gateway Computers in Colorado Springs. And then, as if on cue, Matt
returned to Tucson to work with local architect Bill Taylor, just as things at For many of those involved with the design and construction of the new building, the task is finished. But for Matt, it has just begun. Having new facilities has provided him no hiatus from the day-to-day needs, both large and small, that arise from a busy and growing church. Yet despite the seemingly endless challenges, Matt is thoroughly committed and completely engaged. As a single parent to Tabitha, Matt finds time for more than just work in his busy life. He controls the audio/visual equipment during The Worship Thing on Sunday evenings, and he even joins Travis Mundy for the occasional Saturday flag football game. His personal dreams are: first, to get Tabitha through college; and second, to someday apply his background and skills to the Lord’s work in foreign mission fields. Return to home page |
